Way To Go Costco

It is so nice to buy in bulk. However it is extra rewarding to buy organic products in bulk! Nicole recently told me that Costco now carries organic apples. I also was excited to see that there baby carrots do not have chlorine (the white slimy coating) in them. What are your favorite products from Costco?

Here are a few of my favs:

Costco's Laundry detergent (recommended by my green mentors: Amy and Christina)
Organic Baby Carrots
Organic Frozen Green Beans

Hi Danielle! I just saw this on the Today Show w/Giada and thought of you. Super easy, homemade ketchup that will last for a few weeks in the fridge. Tell me kids won't love this fresh alternative to the yucky store brands!!

For the ketchup:
*1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce or tomato puree
*1 small onion, peeled and quartered, root end left intact
*1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
*1/2 packed cup light brown sugar
*3 tablespoons tomato paste
*1 tablespoon kosher salt
*1 cinnamon stick or a pinch of ground cinnamon

To make the ketchup: Place the tomato sauce, onion, vinegar, sugar, tomato paste, salt and cinnamon stick (or ground cinnamon, if using) in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour until thick. Remove the onion and cinnamon stick and discard. Cool for 30 minutes and refrigerate until ready to use.

PS. It's Amanda Marenger (now Lowe). I love your blog and it's great to see your family. Take care!!
